SATS Project Team

The WAMPO, the Kansas Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and its consultant team will work closely with the cities of Wichita, Derby, Goddard, Haysville, Mulvane, Rose Hill, and Andover; Sedgwick County; and the Kansas Turnpike Authority to resolve a number of key issues. The result will be to determine a preferred strategy for the South Area Transportation Study.

Project Team Bios

WAMPO
The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) was created in 2005 to succeed the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Planning Organization (WSCMPO) as the policy making body for transportation planning in the Wichita metropolitan area. The staff services of WAMPO are performed by the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Department (MAPD) Transportation Planning Division.

The Transportation Planning Division staff is responsible for the regional planning activities for all modes of surface transportation within the metropolitan planning area. The division coordinates local, state, and federal transportation agencies in preparing regional documents such as the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and the short-range Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Wilbur Smith Associates
Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA) is an international consulting engineering, planning and economics firm that celebrates more than 50 years of service as a leader in the environmental, planning/engineering and transportation economics industry.

Working from its Kansas City office, WSA will lead the project team in conducting the environmental analysis and will work closely with citizens and stakeholders to achieve the goals of the study.
